Andrew’s path to EVOBEAN began in a small town known as Bath, Pa, fifty minutes outside of Philadelphia. Between working odd restaurant jobs and his rather lackluster first year of higher education, Andrew decided it was time for a drastic change. In 2001, he and David Miller (EVOBEAN partner), coupled with a few other close friends, made their way west to Denver in search of adventure. The trip was meant to last only a snowboarding season.
Andrew began working with the successful residential painting company. However, he was a horrible painter, and once this weakness was exploited he became a type of “personal assistant” to the painting company and more specifically its owner. Andrew spent the next four years performing random tasks at the owner’s whim. One of his many duties included taking care of personal real estate investments, a total of 7 units at the time. It was not long before Andrew’s tasks went from random to managing and performing full scale apartment building renovations as well as the management of the project’s tenants. Andrew had never swung a hammer before in his life before the commencement of the “painting” job and as it currently stands he and his makeshift crew have remodeled over 80 apartments/homes in the last two years.
As the projects continued to mount, Andrew’s duties grew, and by Fall of 07’ the number of units he was managing on his own was 60. At this time Andrew saw an opportunity to drastically grow this small repertoire of properties on his own terms. With the blessing of his now former employer he decided to break away from the painting company; Acute Property Management was born in March of 08’. Based solely on word of mouth, Acute immediately began to grow as Andrew successfully made a name for himself based on customer service as well as efficient and effective tactics of property management and renovations. Currently, and in only in its 16 month of business, Acute now boasts managing 140 + units for 12 different owners operated by a staff consisting of Andrew and three employees.
In addition to property management, Andrew obtained his Real Estate License in 08’ and is currently employed under a sister company he helped to start and popularize, Gold Real Estate. This company is focused on maintaining investor funds through real estate investment (performed through Gold), with Acute taking over the post-closing duties of performing renovations, management, maintenance, leasing, etc. He and his partner Jason Miller (EVOBEAN partner David’s brother!) have successfully created a one-stop shop for real estate investment with an ever-growing client list.
Andrew’s love of coffee came naturally due to his intense work schedule over the last 8+ years. It began innocently as an intense need for caffeine, however over the years he has developed quite a pallet for it. The final restaurant job of his career consisted of working the barista bar at a popular breakfast restaurant in downtown Denver. It was here that he learned the front of the house coffee shop enterprise and further developed his appreciation of the bean and its possibilities.
The concept of EVOBEAN grew at this very breakfast restaurant over a cup with his best buddy Dave, who originally pitched the idea of a sustainable coffee shop. Andrew and Dave were beginning to think that a life of entrepreneurialism would suit them just fine, thus they were both 100% on board to move forward with this particular venture. Andrew and Dave took this concept and ran with it, partnering up with Mark Laliberte (EVOBEAN partner, sustainability guru), and Nichez (EVOBEAN partner, uniquely creative marketing firm) to create a an idea based on pedestrian traffic, excellent coffee, sustainability, and technology. Thus EVOBEAN was born and is currently ever-evolving towards its flagship location.
